acrognale-oai a20092a7a2 Expose effective login methods in config requirements (#45495)
## Why

Configuration requirements did not report which login methods the running app server permits after applying managed policy, forced login settings, and workspace restrictions.

## What changed

- Add `allowedLoginMethods` to `configRequirements/read`, using the running authentication manager's effective policy rather than newly read authentication settings.
- Return requirements when login methods are restricted even without managed requirements, while preserving `requirements: null` for the unrestricted default.
- Update protocol schemas and generated TypeScript and Python types. An empty list permits no login method; older servers may omit the field.

## Testing

Add coverage for managed and forced login restrictions, workspace intersections, policy reporting after requirements files change, invalid login methods, and API-only Amazon Bedrock without ChatGPT requests. Extend tests for conflicting authentication requirements and cloud policy precedence.

Owen Lin 3052bbcf8c Remove the deprecated thread/rollback API (#44915)
## What changed

Remove `thread/rollback`, its request and response types, generated bindings, and the core `Op::ThreadRollback` operation. Requests now follow the generic unknown-method rejection path. Document `thread/revert` as the alternative for paginated threads.

Keep historical `ThreadRolledBack` markers and legacy error deserialization so existing rollouts remain compatible with replay and migration.

## Testing

Adapt retained-context and Guardian history tests to append legacy rollback markers and resume threads, preserving coverage of surviving instructions, answers, and review history.

Matthew Zeng c62d191c4c Expose disabled plugin settings in the app-server API (#44905)
## What changed

- Accept `disabledPluginIds` in `thread/settings/update` and `turn/start`. A supplied list replaces the saved selection; omission or `null` preserves it, and `[]` clears it.
- Return the selection in thread start, resume, and fork responses and `thread/settings/updated` notifications. Update generated schemas and client types.
- Restore disabled plugin IDs from the history retained at the requested fork boundary, preserving explicit overrides.

The selection persists across resume but does not yet filter plugin capabilities.

## Testing

Add coverage for replacing, preserving, and clearing selections without inference; turn-start notifications; resume; and fork boundaries across legacy and paginated history, with loaded and restarted parents. Add a core regression test for history restoration and explicit clearing.

faizan-oai e3a52b87b2 Expose available access programs in model discovery (#44893)
## What changed

Carry optional `available_access_programs` metadata through model information, presets, caches, and the TUI, and expose it as `availableAccessPrograms` in app-server `model/list` responses. Update the generated JSON schemas, TypeScript types, and Python models.

Preserve the distinction between missing metadata and an empty `cyber` list. Ignore unknown cyber program names when reading the catalog so new server programs do not prevent older clients from loading it. Discovery metadata does not grant access; inference still enforces authorization.

## Testing

Add coverage for absent, null, empty, and populated metadata, unknown program names, and app-server serialization. Extend cache tests and verify that online refreshes persist changed access metadata even when the catalog ETag stays unchanged.

Gabriel Peal 7a6f469dcf Expose advertised MCP server capabilities in status responses (#44826)
## What changed

Add `serverCapabilities` to `mcpServerStatus/list` responses in both `full` and `toolsAndAuthOnly` modes, including thread-scoped reads. Return the initialized server's capabilities object, including its `extensions` map, or `null` when unavailable.

Capture capabilities during initialization so they remain available when tool discovery fails. Clear them on each new connection attempt and keep them independent of shared tool caches. Update the protocol schemas, generated TypeScript and Python types, and documentation.

## Testing

Add coverage for extension capabilities surviving tool-discovery failures in both detail modes. Extend existing tests to check advertised extensions, absent capabilities after initialization failure, and serialization of unavailable capabilities as `null`.

alexsong-oai 1aaa453ce2 Enforce managed model provider selection and definitions (#44650)
## What changed

- Support `model_provider` and `model_providers` in managed requirements. Required selection overrides local and session configuration; each required provider definition replaces the corresponding local entry, including its authentication and headers.
- Merge provider requirement fragments before validation, preserving source-relative `auth.cwd` paths. Reject invalid cloud provider definitions before replacing the cached bundle, including unsupported Bedrock overrides.
- Expose `modelProvider` and `modelProviders` through the configuration requirements API and generated schemas. Reject writes to managed provider settings and omit their local origins, including for provider IDs containing dots.

## Testing

Add tests for requirement precedence, authentication fragment merging, path resolution, cloud cache preservation, and read-only configuration RPCs. Integration tests verify that model discovery and inference use the required gateway and ChatGPT authentication without leaking local headers, and that provider requirements survive configuration rebuilds.

joeytrasatti-openai 3319d9b296 Add app-server APIs for stored thread attachments (#44564)
## What changed

- Add `thread/attachment/add`, `thread/attachment/list`, and `thread/attachment/remove` to manage durable resource references without loading the owning thread or changing conversation history.
- Identify attachments by thread, `attachmentType`, and `identityKey`. Repeated adds return the existing attachment; repeated removals succeed without emitting another update. Listing supports cursor pagination.
- Broadcast `thread/attachment/updated` after creation or deletion, after responding to the requester. Serialize attachment mutations with thread lifecycle operations and reject stores that do not support attachments.
- Update protocol schemas, TypeScript and Python bindings, documentation, and TUI notification handling so attachment updates do not add untracked threads to the agent picker.

## Testing

Add coverage for unloaded threads, pagination, idempotent addition and removal, reattachment, invalid inputs, unsupported stores, response-before-notification ordering across clients, and TUI notification routing.

Felicia Chen 0adfc1f2f2 Return the prompt hash in upload responses (#44325)
## What changed

Add nullable `promptHash` to the upload response, populated from the uploaded `prompt_hash` tag. It identifies the whitespace-normalized SHA-256 of the session base instructions, excludes later developer messages, and is `null` when the reported rollout has no prompt metadata.

Update the protocol schemas, precomputed exports, and generated TypeScript and Python types.

Ahmed Ibrahim 45134c0463 Generate Python SDK types from repository app-server schemas (#44032)
## Why

Keep Python protocol models aligned with the checked-in app-server schemas and preserve reviewed generated artifacts when staging SDK releases.

## What changed

- Generate SDK types from the schema directory configured in `pyproject.toml`, with a `--schema-dir` override, instead of invoking the pinned runtime binary.
- Refresh Python artifacts through `just write-app-server-schema` for standard repository exports. Skip SDK updates for scratch and experimental exports.
- Regenerate protocol models and notification dispatch, deriving the known payload union from the registry so `Notification.payload` covers every registered event.
- Explicitly allowlist convenience API parameters so new protocol fields do not silently expand method signatures. Preserve existing approval path wrappers.
- Stage SDK releases using checked-in generated files without regenerating them.

## Testing

Add coverage for schema selection, refresh gating and failure handling, release artifact preservation, notification payload typing, and approval path compatibility. Update the generation drift test to use repository schemas.

Arun Eswara cf7e9cfe6a Support self-serve Business ProLite accounts (#35785)
## What changed

- Recognize `self_serve_business_prolite` across authentication, account and rate-limit APIs, generated schemas, workspace classification, status display, cloud configuration gating, and usage-limit messaging.
- Keep the Python SDK's `PlanType` enum compatible with non-empty string values introduced by newer Codex runtimes while preserving its known constants.

## Testing

- Cover token parsing, account reads and notifications, backend rate-limit mapping, workspace behavior, error formatting, and Python SDK response coercion for the new plan value.

Ahmed Ibrahim 3f74f00295 Prepare Python SDK 0.144.4 stable release (#33213)
## What changed

- Mark `openai-codex` as stable and align its versioned runtime dependency with Codex CLI `0.144.4`.
- Regenerate the Python protocol models and notification registry from that runtime, exposing the latest requests, responses, notifications, and schema fields.
- Keep `ReasoningEffort` and `ThreadSource` as enum-style APIs while accepting unknown future wire values, and omit `last_turn_id` from the flat `thread_fork` helper.

## Testing

- Cover stable SDK/runtime version matching, forward-compatible enum parsing, and generated client method signatures.

efrazer-oai 5a67d898a5 Allow ChatGPT accounts without email (#28991)
# Summary

Codex required every ChatGPT account to have an email address. A
service-account personal access token can return valid account metadata
without one, so PAT login failed while decoding the metadata response.

This change makes email optional in the account metadata type that owns
it and preserves that absence through authentication, provider account
state, the app-server API, generated clients, and TUI bootstrap.
Existing accounts with email addresses keep the same behavior.

## Behavior-changing call sites

| Call site | Behavior after this change |
| --- | --- |
| `login/src/auth/personal_access_token.rs` | PAT metadata accepts a
missing or null email and retains `None`. |
| `agent-identity/src/lib.rs` | Agent Identity JWT claims accept an
omitted email. |
| `login/src/auth/storage.rs` and `login/src/auth/agent_identity.rs` |
Stored and managed Agent Identity records carry `Option<String>`.
Deserialization maps the legacy empty-string sentinel to `None`. |
| `login/src/auth/manager.rs` | `get_account_email` returns the stored
option, and managed identity bootstrap no longer converts `None` to an
empty string. |
| `model-provider/src/provider.rs` and `protocol/src/account.rs` | A
ChatGPT provider account requires a plan type but may carry no email. |
| `app-server-protocol/src/protocol/v2/account.rs` | `account/read`
keeps the `email` field on the wire and returns `null` when the account
has no email. Generated TypeScript and JSON schemas describe a required,
nullable field. |
| `sdk/python/src/openai_codex/generated/v2_all.py` | The generated
Python `ChatgptAccount` model accepts `None` for email. |
| `tui/src/app_server_session.rs` | Email-less ChatGPT accounts
bootstrap normally, keep external feedback routing, omit account-email
telemetry, and display the plan in account status. |

## Design decisions

- Missing email remains `None` at every layer. The code never uses an
empty string as a substitute.
- The app-server response includes `"email": null` instead of omitting
the field. Clients retain a stable response shape.
- Plan type remains required for provider account state. This change
relaxes only the email assumption.

## Testing

Tests: affected test targets compile, scoped Clippy and formatting pass,
a focused TUI snapshot covers plan-only account status, real
before/after PAT login smoke covers metadata without email, app-server
smoke covers `account/read` with `email: null`, and a regression smoke
covers an existing email-bearing PAT. Unit tests run in CI.

## Evidence

Visual smoke evidence will be attached here.

Ahmed Ibrahim 4d0c4cd058 [codex] Add independent beta release for the Python SDK (#24828)
## Why

`openai-codex` needs a beta release lifecycle without requiring beta
releases of its pinned runtime package. Previously, SDK staging rewrote
its runtime dependency to the SDK version, which made an SDK-only beta
impossible.

## What changed

- Set the initial SDK beta version to `0.1.0b1` and pin it to published
stable `openai-codex-cli-bin==0.132.0`.
- Decoupled SDK release staging from runtime versioning so it preserves
the reviewed exact runtime pin.
- Added a `python-v*` tag workflow that builds and publishes only
`openai-codex` through PyPI trusted publishing.
- Removed the Beta classifier from runtime package metadata for future
runtime publications.
- Regenerated protocol-derived SDK models from the selected stable
runtime package.

`0.132.0` is the newest stable runtime admitted by the checked-in
dependency date fence and retains the Linux wheel family currently used
by SDK CI.

## Release setup

Before pushing `python-v0.1.0b1`, configure PyPI trusted publishing for
the `openai-codex` project with workflow `python-sdk-release.yml`,
environment `pypi`, and job `publish-python-sdk`.

## Validation

- `uv run --frozen --extra dev ruff check src/openai_codex scripts
examples tests`
- Parsed `.github/workflows/python-sdk-release.yml` with PyYAML.
- Built staged release artifacts locally:
`openai_codex-0.1.0b1-py3-none-any.whl` and
`openai_codex-0.1.0b1.tar.gz`.
- Verified wheel metadata pins `openai-codex-cli-bin==0.132.0`.
- Tests are deferred to online CI for this PR.

Ahmed IbrahimandCodex aa9e8f0262 [8/8] Add Python SDK Ruff formatting (#22021)
## Why

The Python SDK needs the same tight formatter/lint loop as the rest of
the repo: a safe Ruff autofix pass, Ruff formatting, editor save
behavior, and CI checks that catch drift. Without that loop, SDK changes
can land with formatting or import ordering that differs from what
reviewers and CI expect.

## What

- Add Ruff configuration to `sdk/python/pyproject.toml`, excluding
generated protocol code and notebooks from the normal lint/format pass.
- Update `just fmt` so it still formats Rust and also runs Python SDK
Ruff autofix and formatting.
- Add Python SDK CI steps for `ruff check` and `ruff format --check`
before pytest.
- Recommend the Ruff VS Code extension and enable Python
format/fix/organize-on-save so Cmd+S uses the same tooling.
- Apply the resulting Ruff formatting to SDK Python files, examples, and
the checked-in generated `v2_all.py` output emitted by the pinned
generator.
- Add a guard test for the `just fmt` recipe so it keeps working from
both Rust and Python SDK working directories.

## Stack

Ahmed IbrahimandCodex f1b84fac63 [5/8] Rename Python SDK package to openai-codex (#21905)
## Why

The SDK should publish under the reserved public distribution name
`openai-codex`, and its import module should match that name in the
Python style. Since package names can contain hyphens but import modules
cannot, the public import path becomes `openai_codex`.

Keeping the rename separate from the public API surface change makes the
naming change easy to review and avoids mixing it with API curation.

## What

- Rename the SDK distribution from `openai-codex-app-server-sdk` to
`openai-codex`.
- Rename the import package from `codex_app_server` to `openai_codex`.
- Keep the runtime wheel as the separate `openai-codex-cli-bin`
dependency.
- Update docs, examples, notebooks, artifact scripts, lockfile metadata,
and tests for the new distribution/module names.
