Unify database path selection, preserve explicit overrides, and remove launcher-imposed data paths. Back up the selected directory with locking and recursive-copy protection. Include regression tests and migration documentation. Prior focused path and desktop checks, Go vet, and the frontend build passed. Full regression failures in cluster discovery and three UI cases are recorded in docs/testing.md.
